University Advisors (UA's) form a critical component of the support network that enables student-led Enactus teams to develop and deliver community outreach projects. Your role is crucial in supporting Enactus students across your institution to become the responsible leaders of the future whilst simultaneously creating meaningful community impact through the projects they create.

This page will give you all the information you need to support you in your role as an Enactus UK & Ireland University Advisor and includes resources, links, and information chosen to support your coaching experience.

To be recognised as an Enactus team, the team must have a minimum of one Lead University Advisor (UA).

    • Enactus UK & Ireland UA's MUST be employed by the higher education institution that they support

    • UA's can be based in any area of the University, but typically come from areas that support enterprise and entrepreneurship, employability, social action, community engagement, academic departments and/or the SU

    • This is a voluntary role, although some HEI's include the UA role as part of an employee's job description

  • The role of a UA is flexible dependent on capacity of the individuals who are part of the core team.

As a guide, UA’s would typically support on the following:

    • Serve as a university staff representative of the team within the Enactus network

    • Provide advice and guidance to the Enactus team members as required

    • Ensure that the Enactus team develops and implements quality projects in adherence to the requirements set by Enactus UK & Ireland.

    • Serve as an advocate for the Enactus organisation on and off campus (with special emphasis on building and maintaining support for Enactus within their academic institution)

    • Inform and excite the institution on Enactus’ objectives and programmes

    • Provide guidance to the Enactus team in its outreach projects and its sustainability efforts

    • Evaluate the competition materials and support with preparation ahead of any competition submission.

    • Regularly attend Enactus meetings and provide input and support where required – these meetings are not limited to those with the team, but may also include meetings coordinated by Enactus UK & Ireland

    • Assist with the team recruitment efforts (recruitment of new students, support network members, and/or co- University Advisers)

    • Ensure that the Enactus team adheres to the national and worldwide reporting standards – timely and accurate submission of key reports, including but not limited to the Active Team Sheet, Team Data Sheet, and Project Verification Form.

    • Encourage your team to engage with all opportunities that Enactus UK provide to accelerate their experience, learning and impact across the Enactus year.

    • Support your team at the events hosted by Enactus UK where possible throughout the year.

  • Recommended:

Attendance at the team's weekly/monthly meeting

Attendance at the UA monthly webinar/coffee chat

As with anything Enactus - the more you put in, the more you get out which is why although the commitment level needed is low from an Enactus UK & Ireland perspective most UAs will far exceed this with additional support, help, and advice given outside of the monthly support network meeting. Enactus UK & Ireland will also offer one-off events and engagement opportunities that you may wish to get involved with such as the UA summit, National Expo volunteering and other networking opportunities.

  • Your role as a University Adviser is to assist in the activities of the team through encouragement, advice, and guidance.

There is no expectation for you to manage or lead the team – that is the role of the student team leaders themselves who may of course need your assistance to strengthen their own management and leadership skills.

As a UA you also have an important role to play in facilitating interactions between the team and your institution’s administration and senior leadership.

This is an opportunity to connect, learn, and develop in person with other UAs and Enactus UK & Ireland with an action pack agenda to set you and your team up to succeed. Typically these are held in the Autumn and Spring term.
