Enactus Project Inspiration

 
 

Calido, Enactus Leeds Trinity

Project ‘CALIDO’ aims to support the elderly out of fuel poverty within the Leeds area by heating homes and hearts. Elderly people are in an exceptionally dangerous position as older households are more than twice as likely to live in extreme fuel poverty than families. Our project offers a tailored all-round service to bring those people out of fuel poverty to be able to live a comfortable and happy life.

    • It is estimated that there are currently 6.6 million households in fuel poverty, unable to afford to heat their homes to the temperature needed to keep warm and healthy.

    • In extreme cases fuel poverty can lead to a 'heat or eat' situation where a resident is self-disconnecting their energy supplies.

    • National Energy Action estimates that the number of households in fuel poverty across the UK is 6.7 million households, as of the start of April 2022. An increase of more than 50% in just over six months.

    • Calido goes into the homes of their beneficiaries and conduct an audit about their heating systems and how much they are spending on their energy bills.

    • Calido then helps to advise them on how to have an energy system that is cheap, keeps them warm and is sustainable.

  • A pilot project has been undertaken to support elderly people within the Leeds community. We look forward to the impact Calido can create!
